About Echo Lake Community Group

Join us in building a stronger community

ELCG is a group of volunteers working to improve our community. Formed in 2019 to develop a Community Emergency Response effort here in our Community. While we live in a populated area of the Pacific Northwest, we are at risk of being isolated in an emergency if the road in/out of our community becomes impassible. The emergency response plan has been developed and currently building a team of responders. Look for more information on the Programs tab of this website.

But the people of our community didn't stop at emergency preparedness...

This very website was formed as a resource to the Echo Lake Community. In addition, a monthly newsletter is published, events and parades are happening within our community, your neighbors are starting conversations about Neighborhood Watch, traffic and speeding, walking paths, wildlife, a community welcome sign and a park! There is also an annual survey conducted and an email established so your voice can be heard - info@echolakecommunity.org. Our collective voices are stronger with each additional community member.

For the residents of Echo Lake Community, you can subscribe to email to be kept informed. Stay in the loop, join the group!

We are Stronger Together

Who Are We?

It all started with an idea by a local couple to organize an emergency preparedness effort in our community.

Emergency Preparedness training was offered in the spring of 2019 and upon conclusion, the 42 households that participated were asking for more… and friendships were built. Eight leaders stepped up to explore what was next. The consensus was that people were longing for a sense of community because that doesn’t occur naturally in a rural area like ours.

In the few months that followed, this community group took some big steps to build a sustainable future:

      • Launched this community website - echolakecommunity.org

      • Established a Board: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer

      • A communications team helped 16 people pass the ham radio licensing exam

      • Obtained designation as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization

      • Hosted a National Night Out event with almost 300 attendees

      • Started a fundraising effort to finance community events and emergency supplies

Our community is defined by the people living near Echo and Lost Lakes in the area south of Hwy 522 accessed by Welch & Echo Lake Roads. This is located in the county of Snohomish, State of Washington, United States of America, North American continent of planet Earth. The Echo Lake Community Church which is used for many community events is located at 47.794790 and -122.052680 (Latitude & Longitude).

Echo Lake Community Group is different than the groups that have formed in the past. We have taken formal legal actions to set up a permanent structure. We are focused on the community and listening to what you want. Our agenda is connecting neighbors and being prepared for an emergency.

Our mission:

To build a Rural community that is

Safe, Strong, Resilient and Inclusive

through Neighborhood Connections

and Community Services

This includes building trust among rural neighbors who often do not know each other. Our community may be totally isolated from main highways and roads and forced to rely only upon one another in a major natural disaster such as a devastating earthquake. The Echo Lake Community Group is working to help make our community safer and a more caring place to live.

More about our direction

The Echo Lake Community Board supports and represents The Echo Lake Community This rural community enjoys the animals, the lakes and country lifestyle. The community is unique and independent with common challenges. We recognize that in a disaster, this community will be isolated from emergency services and support. To mitigate this risk, the community decided to take steps to prepare households, train neighbors, identify local resources and develop a disaster recovery plan. This work has begun and will continue to mature and evolve as needs are identified.

The community is led and supported by a core of dedicated people focused on meeting the above goals. We are established as a Non Profit organization operating with limited operational funds. We function without regard to political or religious orientation. We are neighbors with a common concern.

The Officers and Directors are currently working to develop a more robust community. If you would like to email them, click on their name or photo on the Leaders page of this website. We welcome your feedback.
